Abstract

Purpose: This study was to compare and analyze the sleep state, satisfaction of sleep, and life satisfaction of Korean elderly living with family by Sasangin constitution.

Methods: There were 405 subjects (Tae Yin In: 137, So Yang In: 134, and So Yin In: 134) over 65 years, who were living in Seoul or Gyung-gi province. Data was analyzed by the SPSS/WIN 16.0.

Results: 1. In the sleep state, Tae Yin In had a better sleep state than So Yang In and So Yin In. 2. In satisfaction of sleep, Tae Yin In had better satisfaction of sleep than that of So Yang In but So Yang In had better satisfaction of sleep than that of So Yin In. 3. In life satisfaction, Tae Yin In had better life satisfaction than So Yang In and So Yin In.

Conclusion: Based on the findings, concrete nursing intervention by Sasangin constitution of elderly can be explored to improve sleep promotion and life satisfaction for suitable individuals. In addition, general characteristics by Sasangin constitution of elderly should be considered when developing a nursing intervention.
